I didn’t start walking because it was trendy or catchy. I started because I felt off, and I knew it was an easy way to boost my mood.
My days were full, my body was tense, and my mood felt unpredictable. I was doing all the things I was supposed to do. Caring for my family and keeping things moving but at the time there was nothing for just me. When you have a young child it’s so easy to swept up in Motherhood. I don’t necessarily think that is a bad thing BUT if you don’t start making time for yourself it can be.
Walking became the simplest way to create something for myself.
Why I Started Hot Mom Walks
Motherhood comes with a constant sense of responsibility. Even in quiet moments, your nervous system rarely fully powers down. I didn’t need a high-intensity workout or another routine that required planning and discipline. I needed something accessible, and something where I could bring my daughter along.
Walking required very little, shoes and time. No performance. No metrics. Just movement.
What I Mean by “Hot Mom Walks”
Despite the name, this isn’t really about appearance. It’s about self-respect.
A Hot Mom Walk is choosing to move your body in a way that feels intentional. It’s doing an activity without rushing. It’s not filling the silence immediately. It’s allowing your body and mind to recalibrate.
And an undeniable bonus is looking HOT.
How It Changed My Mood
The shift wasn’t dramatic, but it was consistent. I noticed I was less irritable, less overwhelmed by small things, and more emotionally regulated. Problems didn’t disappear, but they felt more manageable. My body felt calmer.
It wasn’t about fixing my mood, it was about stabilizing it. Doing an activity for myself that did not require me to do anything for anybody else.
Why Walking Works
Walking supports the nervous system in a way few other habits do. It’s rhythmic. It’s grounding. It engages the body without overstimulation. For mothers especially, it offers a rare combination of movement and mental rest.
There’s no barrier to entry. No right way to do it. No expectation to push harder or go longer.
Making Space Without Pressure
I stopped treating walking as something I should do and started treating it as something I needed. Some days it’s short. Some days it’s slow. Some days it’s silent. That flexibility is what made it sustainable.
Hot Mom Walks aren’t a wellness trend or a productivity hack. They’re a quiet practice of regulation, presence, and care.
And over time, those walks evolve. Your baby won’t cry forever on every walk. Eventually, she’ll be walking, running, or riding her bike beside you. You might start walking a little farther, pick up running, or even find yourself joining a gym or signing up for races.
For me, those walks eventually became something much bigger. I started going to the gym, running races, and meeting other moms along the way. Eventually, I started Hot Moms Club, and now we have moms getting together to walk, talk, and spend time together every month.
Your walk doesn’t have to lead to any of that. Maybe it stays a simple walk around the neighborhood. Maybe it becomes your workout, your quiet time, or the place where you meet a new friend. You never know where something as simple as putting one foot in front of the other might take you.
