10 Non-intimidating ways to add black to your home

Even though I love the color black, the thought of putting it in my home was intimidating for many years. But I finally decided to incorporate it into my decor, and I am very pleased with how it looks.

Here are 10 ways you can incorporate black into your home that won’t intimidate or overwhelm you. Any of these are easily customizable to match your home aesthetic.

1. Black windows

Painting your windows black can be a weekend DIY project. Painting your windows (on the inside) can add a bold, and classy touch to your space.

And if you are anything like me you already have a can of black paint and paint brushes on standby!

2. Doors

Black interior doors have become super popular, and for good reason. Painting your doors black helps create a custom look and focal point for any room.

Before you decide to paint your doors make sure that you choose a paint with a primer, and be aware that finger prints show much more on black door, sincerely a toddler mom.

3.Accent walls

Painting a black accent wall is the easiest way to make a bold statement in your home. My personal favorite is a black accent wall in your bedroom.

Although, black is a trendy color, it is also classic. And at the end of the day, it is paint. You can easily change it if you decide it’s not for you.

If you are not ready to make the commitment in your bedroom, then try a common space. Add some simple decor and make it your own.

4. Decor

Since black is an androgynous color it is perfect to add throughout your home for a pop of color. It is less of a commitment than the previous options I mentioned, and some times you can use what you already have.

This is a great way to see how you like black in your home. Take some decor pieces you already have spray paint them black.

5. Kitchen island

I love a white kitchen, but as I am incorporating black into my home I have considered painting our bar black. But if you have a kitchen island, painting it black is a good way to add a bold statement to your kitchen.

6. Black grout

I don’t know how I would feel about this in the kitchen, but in the bathroom I am a huge fan. Black grout is less likely to show dirt, and another project that you can DIY over the weekend.

7. Black frames

Adding black frames is an easy way to personalize your space to match you style, without the overwhelming color of black.

You can paint frames you already have, grab some IKEA or find some secondhand at the thrift store or FB Market Place.

My personal favs are square frames with clean lines. But you can get really creative here and use some antique frames for a custom look.

8. Fireplace

I did this in one (long) night, not even a weekend. This is probably my favorite DIY project to date.

It created a focal point in my living room, and gave it the modern update that I was looking for.
