Puppy Bath Sensory Bin Activity For Your Busy Toddler

The secret to a happy toddler is sometimes as easy as filling a bin with water for them to play in. My toddler loves playing in the water so when I saw the Farm Animal Wash Sensory Pin, I knew that I had to create a Puppy Bath Sensory Bin for her.

What is a Sensory Bin?

“Sensory bins provide children with the opportunity to explore and learn through hands-on tactile play that engages their senses. These bins encourage and support various types of development and are great activities to have in your home. Sensory bins can be themed for holidays, seasons and academic skills.” –Salus University Occupational Therapy Institute

This simple puppy bath sensory bin can be set up in minutes and can be made with items that you already have in your home.

My toddler is currently into Paw Patrol, so I wanted to incorporate that into this activity. You could easily incorporate whatever your toddlers favorite toys are into in this activity instead.

The idea behind this sensory bin is to have your toddler wash the dirty puppies.

What you will need:

  • Paw Patrol figurines
  • 2 bowls
  • Tooth brush
  • Reusable sponge
  • Small Cup
  • Acrylic Tray
  • Dish Towel

This post does not contain any affiliate links because I did not purchase any items for the sensory bin activity and I want to encourage you to use items that you already have! However, you can support my blog by pinning this post and sharing with a friend!

First, I collected her favorite Paw Patrol figurines.

Then I made sure they were nice and dirty. I wet the toys, then threw them in a bowl of dirt that I got from our backyard.

Next, I set up the tray with the toys, a bowl of soapy water, a toothbrush, cup, sponge and towel. I wanted to give her different options to wash the pups with.

I did not give her much direction for this activity. When she saw the pups she realized that they were dirty and I suggested she cleaned them.

This simple activity kept my busy toddler engaged for almost 30 minutes. She was cleaning, rinsing and drying the pups, and playing in the water.

Talk to your toddler while they are playing but also allow them the freedom to play and make choices.

If you try this activity let me know how your toddler enjoyed it!
