There are many reasons that a mom may want to earn an income while working from home, with their children. Maybe it is to reach financial goals, or maybe it is to find something outside of motherhood to work on. Either way, here are some profitable ways to make an income as a Stay at Home Mom.
These are not get rich-quick jobs, but jobs that have little to no start-up cost. If you invest the time these can be profitable hustles for mom.
1. Start a blog
You are probably rolling your eyes at this, but it is true. Blogs have the potential to earn an uncapped amount. You can earn income from sponsored posts, affiliate links or ads. It requires zero education, and little to no experience right away, and you are able to work as much and as little as you want.
This is not (but can eventually) passive income. There is a lot of research and work that goes into getting your blog started.
2. Sell on Etsy
Etsy is a marketplace for handmade items and small businesses. You can sell your own crafts, or digital templates and planners. There are videos all over youtube on how to and what to sell.
I have 2 Etsy stores (one I just started), that I run and think it is a great option for moms.
3. Freelance writing
You find jobs via linkedin, Upwork, Fivver or marketing yourself on social media. New freelancers typically charge $50-$100 per post.
I have personally worked as a freelance blogger and I love it. It is a way for me to be creative, earn and income and do something I truly enjoy.
4. Teach online
There are a variety of platforms that you can work for. Hours are flexible and usually part-time.
5. Work as a virtual assistant
Virtual assistants perform a variety of tasks for businesses. The hours can usually be flexible, and you have the ability to choose the clients you work with and how often.
You can find jobs on Linkedin, Upwork, Fivver and marketing yourself.
6. Create an online course or ebook
There are so many things that people need help with, and are willing to pay for. Think about what you have to offer, or problem that you can solve for your audience.
7. Bookkeeping
Businesses will hire out bookkeeping tasks so that they can concentrate on other things. This is great hustle if you have a background in this type of work already.
8. Become a Pinterest VA
I separated this from virtual because it is so specific. Pinterest is a huge tool for bloggers but it can be very time consusming.
This is a low cost business to start, and I also work as a Pinterest VA (you can check out my services here). It is one of my favorite side-hustles and I would totally make this full time when my toddler is in school.
9. Be a content creator
Create content in short form video or photos is another way to earn an uncapped income. Moms are making full-time incomes as content creators, Mom Creators is a great way to learn the ins and outs of content creation and apply for opportunities.
10. Sell photos online
There are plenty of sites that allow you to flex your photography skills and make an income. And if you really want to dive into photography, you could start a business taking photos for weddings, families and other big events.
11. Dog walking/ sitting
While this wouldn’t be from home. You could only take local clients and take your kid with you. You could work as much or little as you want, and it allows you to get some exercise also.
12. Start a Youtube channel
While this has little to no start up, it does require some work. Creating, editing and properly optimizing videos so that you get views is so important to the success of your channel.
However if you can figure it out, you can run a very profitable youtube channel.
